Highland Park Establishes Fund to Address Shooting Tragedy

In response to this week’s mass shooting in Highland Park, Ill., the Highland Park Community Foundation has established the July 4th Highland Park Shooting Response Fund, which will go directly to victims and survivors.

Once needs are identified, the Highland Park Community Foundation will be there to assist. In the meantime, the foundation hopes donors will give generously.

“There really are no words to express the depth of our sorrow for what happened at our Independence Day Parade,” the foundation said in a statement on its website. “Tragedy struck our families, our City, and our souls. Never have we needed the strength of community and neighbors more than now.”

The July 4 mass shooting left 7 people dead and injured two dozen others.
