Florida Community Foundations Launch Hurricane Idalia Relief Funds
Last updated: September 1, 2023
Community Foundations like the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, Manatee Community Foundation and the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay have created disaster relief funds to support communities impacted by Hurricane Idalia — the first major hurricane in history to make landfall in Florida’s Apalachee Bay.
The hurricane is expected to have the largest impact on central Florida before heading north along the Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina coastlines before turning out to sea.
You can make a difference by supporting one of the relief funds set up by Florida community foundations to provide relief to those who have been impacted by this dangerous and fast-moving storm:
The Community Foundation of Sarasota County has activated the Suncoast Disaster Recovery Fund. The fund supports long-term recovery efforts in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte and Desoto counties.
The Manatee Community Foundation has launched its Disaster Relief Fund to support those impacted in Manatee County. The fund supports local organizations working on the ground conducting disaster relief efforts.
The Community Foundation of Tampa Bay activated their Tampa Bay Rapid Response Fund.
The Community Foundation of North Central Florida activated their NCF Cares Fund to assist with disaster relief.
The Community Foundation Awareness Initiative will be updating this page as more of our community foundation partners take steps to help their communities respond to and recover from Hurricane Idalia.
