CFAI Launches its First Impact of Giving Days Report

Many Americans are familiar with GivingTuesday, the Tuesday following Thanksgiving where people around the world donate to make a difference on a global scale.

But as we celebrate Community Foundation Week, now is a good time to recognize the work of community foundations nationwide that are raising millions for community-based nonprofits through local giving days.

The Community Foundation Awareness Initiative’s latest report, The Impact of Giving Days report, revealed that donors contributed more than $262 million to support the work of more than 15,000 nonprofits in 2022 through 29 community foundation giving days.

The first of its kind, the report also reveals how community foundations build nonprofit capacity through single-day giving events.

“We offer capacity-building workshops to nonprofits, particularly those with a smaller staff,” said Erin Fessler, vice president of marketing and community/government relations at The Erie Community Foundation. “And we try to provide them with enough resources, so they don’t have to fend for themselves.”

The Impact of Giving Days report also features spotlights of North Texas Giving Day, Erie Gives, Midlands Gives, Adams County Community Foundation Giving Spree, and GiveNOLA Day.
