Maine Community Foundation Activates Fund in Response to Lewiston Tragedy
We are mourning with the nation over the tragedy in Lewiston, Maine this week.
In response to the tragic mass shooting that occurred on Wednesday, the Maine Community Foundation is taking action and ramping up efforts to support families and individuals who were deeply impacted.
In a recent interview with CNN, Gov. Janet Mills described the city as a “close-knit community” and that “it did not deserve this terrible assault on its citizens, on its peace of mind, or its sense of security.”
As a result of the gun violence that took the lives of 18 people and injured 13 others, the foundation launched the Lewiston-Auburn Area Response Fund to support current and emerging needs within the community.
This Fund will be guided with insights from Maine Community Foundation’s Androscoggin County Committee, community partners, as well as the Maine Community Foundation’s board of directors.
Donations may be made to victims and survivors here.
