Community Foundations Activate Funds in Response to Tragedies in Monterey Park and Half Moon Bay
As we mourn two tragedies in California in a span of days, the Silicon Valley Community Foundation and San Francisco Foundation have sprinted into action.
In response to the mass shootings in both Monterey Park and Half Moon Bay, the Silicon Valley Community Foundation has launched their Emergency and Disaster Relief Fund to support both the immediate and long-term needs of the community following these tragedies.
In addition, the California Community Foundation has pulled together a list of opportunities to support those impacted which includes a detailed list of nonprofits offering immediate resources such as mental health counseling and legal resources.
The Half Moon Bay community has suffered many challenges in the past few years including the impact COVID-19 has had on farmworkers in the region, wildfires and a recent string of storms which have caused significant damage. The recent mass shooting has deeply affected an already devastated community.
