A Public Giving Marathon Raises $1.23 Million for 174 Pennsylvania Nonprofits
The Pittsburgh Foundation this month organized a one-day fundraising campaign that provided 174 nonprofits with much-needed operating support at a critical time.
Dubbed the #ONEDAY Critical Needs Alert, the 16-hour online giving event raised $1.23 million from foundation donors and the public.
The donations help these charities in their continued support to provide basic needs -- such as food, housing, physical and mental healthcare, childcare, and transportation directly to BIPOC communities that have been facing disproportionate health and economic impacts from the virus.
“Now more than ever, people want to take part in helping our region and our neighbors not just recover but thrive,” said Lisa Schroeder, president and CEO of the Pittsburgh Foundation. “The #ONEDAY Critical Needs Alert event makes it as easy as possible for anyone to make a donation and, in doing so, make a difference.”
