Community Foundation Receives Historic Charitable Gift from Arizona Couple

The Arizona Community Foundation has received the largest gift in its history — $129 million from longtime Arizona philanthropists Christy and Daryl Burton.

The donation — made through real estate assets — will support underserved youth with college and career-readiness programs, STEM education, and mentorship and leadership-development programs.

The foundation and the Burton family have a longstanding relationship. The Burton Family Foundation – a supporting organization of ACF – is known for its significant work in the community, especially for education reform and improving educational opportunities for children and students who need the most support.

“Working closely with Christy and Daryl has been a privilege,” said Steve Seleznow, ACF’s president and chief executive officer. “We have been honored to help them achieve their charitable vision for Arizona and provide them the full range of philanthropic services we offer the community.”
